And well keep on fighting - till the end *
Its been kind of a yucky week but here's something crazy...this song came on as I sat down after painting and I just felt well, inspired, as a friend of mine said. I think Queen was a brilliant band and this song as hokey as some may think just would make me close my eyes and shake my head yes..we are the champions and we'll keep on fighting till the end. And with a little head banging I end up smiling at the end...
Time after time -
Ive done my sentence
But committed no crime -
And bad mistakes
Ive made a few
Ive had my share of sand kicked in my face -
But Ive come through
We are the champions - my friends
And well keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
cause we are the champions - of the world -
Ive taken my bows
And my curtain calls -
You brought me fame and fortuen and everything that goes with it -
I thank you all -
But its been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise -
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race -
And I aint gonna lose -
We are the champions - my friends
And well keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
cause we are the champions - of the world -

It's funny that there seems to be a trend lately that we're supposed to apologize for winning. "But what about the person that loses, let's comfort them."
But this diminishes the pride of winning, the energizing charge you get from a victory. At it's this charge, or even just the memory of it, that keeps us plowing forward through rough times seeking out the next victory.
You ARE a champion, sister. So remember your victories, because you just so happen to be on your way to your next victory right now without even knowing it.
See ya.

Queen was a great band. Are you back at school this fall?

A little headbanging never hurt anyone.
Wait...that's a funny sentence.
It's good to feel like a champion - I think the brilliance of that song is that it brings the listener into the community of champions with the use of the word "we" - very clever strategy for empowering the listener. I know it works for me. I always feel like I've won a major sports even whenever I hear it.
