Where words fail, music speaks. ~Hans Christian Anderson

Last night, a handful of us were standing outside a coffeehouse, talking about music. We were all telling what concerts we had been to in our lives, as if we were sharing with each other badges of honor. Geoff saw Jimi Hendrix in concert. In my book, he won the pot.(probably not a good word at this point)One of my friends has recently come clean that she was a punker. So..she was excited to tell me she saw The Ramones and okay the Killer Darts..or something like that. Clint said he didn't get to go to concerts but he watched The Midnight Special. Merlin said he saw the Mamas and the Pappas! I was telling Sam, the other day, that I never got floor seats at concerts, but I always ended up on the floor.(not literally, Clint) I was skilled at sneaking by the security. Those were the best of times and the worst of times. I was lost..that's for sure...
My Badges:
Bob Dylan
Loggins and Messina (last tour together)
Doobie Brothers
Heart
Jerry Jeff Walker
Asleep at the Wheel (several times)
Willie Nelson (He signed my belt.)
Harry Chapin with only a stool and guitar..amazing
James Taylor
Seals and Croft
Grand Funk Railroad
Bloodrock
Steppenwolf
Music has been a big part of my life. I have done my homework to music, cleaned my house to music, cooked to music, driven to music, laughed to music, sang to music and oh man, cried to music...I think we were created to sing, dance and laugh!!
So...let me hear who you guys have seen in concert?

ZZ Top, greatest concert ever for me.

Hank Williams Jr. concert. He spend about 30 minutes without his band. He sat on a stool, played his guitar and sang many of his father's songs. Way cool.

From the Christian music front, David Crowder band rocked the house in Nashville.

Oh..I forgot..I saw ZZ Top and The Band..

My son just saw David Crowder and loved it!

I am so happy that my kids have some decent Christian bands to listen to.
Thanks for stopping by, Steve.

oh man, Beverly, I saw Harry Chapin too and he kissed me on the cheek! Pretty cool. Oh and Geoff wants me to tell you he never saw Bob Dylan in concert but in the 9th grade he shot hoops with him in Mr. Finkbein's driveway. He didn't know who he was at the time but found out later evening when he asked someone who that guy was. Oh and my brother also claims to have played backup guitar for The James Gang. Anyone remember them?

I do, Candy. Okay, Geoff wins all the way around...
Hey, Merlin just realized that HEB camp is next weekend so he's gone to try to get everything ready for the week because he is taking Sam. So, we won't be at praise worship. I just got home from work and it probably would be good for me, but I am just pooped!!

Oh, Deanna, I was going to say that I saw Toto a year ago here in Honolulu (tour sponsored by Geritol) - they were great, as always. They played with the Honolulu Orchestra.

And I missed Aimee Mann when she came through six months ago. It was on a Wednesday night - one of three hours in the week I gotta work. Grrrr!

By Blogger Scott, at 7:02 PM

Wow, Scott...Sting is on my wish list!!
Oh well, yeah, I saw Sesame Street Live...

Deana..Rick Springfield..that must been a great one.

Scott..your killing me..Toto played with the Honolulu orchestra..

Happytheman..welcome...YES, I bet that was an awesome concert. I remember listening to YES getting ready for school.

Okay guys, I also saw Elvis at the Tarrant County Rodeo..

By Blogger Beverly, at 5:58 PM

Next concert is Elvis Costello at the Bass Concert Hall UT.

Scott, I saw Wetton with UK and with Bruford during the One of a Kind tour.

Those UK albums and the Bruford Albums I still spin today. One of a Kind is one of my favorites.

This is a great post Bev... I kept thinking the Yes Tales Concert was awesome then I think when Genesis did the Lamb Lies Down tour with Peter Gabriel doing about three costume changes during Supper's Ready alone. Then seeing Eddie Van Halen just drool watching Steve Hackett play at the Roxy.. Or Allan Holdsworth staying around an extra day to catch Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble.

I ditched the Third Day/DCB concert tonight to hang out with a friend.

By Blogger happytheman, at 7:21 PM

Cheap Trick still puts on the loudest concerts. Oh by the way did I tell you my hearing is almost gone.

By Blogger happytheman, at 7:23 PM

Stevie Ray Vaughn..oh man, that would have been awesome. I went out with a couple electric guitar player and he was their idol

When I am talking to students and I don't hear them, that's what I say..."Too many rock concerts!"

By Blogger Beverly, at 8:32 PM

I never heard of UK?

By Blogger Beverly, at 8:54 PM

I would give anything to have been kissed by Harry Chapin.

I've seen Elton John three times, the Moody Blues, The Steve Miller Band, the Doobie Brothers, Al Stewart (dream of mine), Chicago, Ronnie Milsap (he didn't see me), and, as far as Christian bands, The Imperials and Andrus Blackwood and Co.

Anyone know them?
